Usually, I write and post about style tips or my personal style guidance. After a whirlwind of worldwide travel to the most fashionable cities during what’s now known as Fashion Month, I thought I would share my experience as a stylist with a background in the corporate world, from behind the scenes at Fashion Month in New York, London, and Paris. I skipped Milan, although it was initially in the plan. It’s hard enough to pack for a week away; a month, I thought, is too long. That said, I am considering taking on all four cities in February for Fashion Month.
A big part of Fashion Month involved Vogue100, which I joined in June 2024. I wasn’t sure what membership would include, but I knew it meant invitations to exclusive fashion-related events, some of which I already had planned on attending, so I figured it is worth a try. I have enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful fashion lovers all over the world, and the events are just incredibly special. Email me if you are interested in specifics, and I am happy to share!
I love to attend shows with friends and clients, so if you are interested in attending events or fashion shows, I would like to offer this to you whenever possible.
What I love about attending runway shows and fashion weeks is sharing my observations about collections and style tips with others.
- Denim is STILL everywhere and ESPECIALLY makes sense in rainy weather because denim doesn’t damage easily.
- The shows I attended were:
New York: Proenza Schouler, Bach Mai, Jonathan Simkhai, Monse, Cynthia Rowley and Wiederhoeft (favorite: Wiederhoeft)
London: Richard Quinn, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Simone Rocha and Huishan Zhang (favorite: Erdem)
Paris: Mugler, Schiaparelli, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton (favorite: Louis Vuitton and Schiaparelli)The numerous fashion festivities between runway shows kept me breathless and in fashion heaven, as a great place to rejoice and network with other fashion lovers.Although I would have loved to have attended the Chloe show, there was enough coverage to get the gist: layered ruffles, bohemian chic, and earth tones are everywhere. - Modern, strong silhouettes dominated the runway at Louis Vuitton. Accessories played a big role in the looks, with fresh takes on the LV trunks and nothing like your mother’s or grandmother’s Louis Vuitton handbag. My personal fave is the LV Louis Vuitton Petite Malle.
- Be sure to stay in a hotel known for service. Even if the room is small, service in a French-speaking country is of utmost importance.
- Jetlag is more challenging than I anticipated. I fell asleep quickly but woke up multiple times, unable to fall back for hours. This was super-annoying and caused me to oversleep.
- Be organized or have someone help you coordinate your schedule and looks, coordinating enough looks for your events.
- Take photos of your looks by the event or day. When you see your outfit in a photo from different distances, it appears differently, and at the end of a trip, all you will have are the photos and memories.
- Remember that dressing in your personal best, whatever your style, leads to more productive days and more fulfilled experiences!
